Our Farm

Warren Farm is a small family farm overlooking Alum Bay, run by James and Becca. We are National Trust tenants, and our family has been farming here for over 50 years. Our Jersey cows are rooted in the island’s heritage, with their ancestors grazing here since the Victorian era.

Alongside the dairy, we keep pedigree Sussex cattle and Herdwick sheep. Their grazing helps protect the rare chalk downland of West High Down and the coastal heathland of Headon Warren.

We follow regenerative and organic principles, avoiding artificial fertilisers, pesticides and feed additives, and focusing on enhancing soil health, wildlife and biodiversity.

Herdwick sheep

The Herdwick is a breed of domestic sheep native to the Lake District in North West England. The name "Herdwick" is derived from the Old Norse herdvyck, meaning sheep pasture. Sussex cattle

The Sussex is a British breed of red beef cattle from the Weald of Sussex, Surrey and Kent, in south-eastern England. Its traditional use as a draught ox on the Weald continued into the twentieth century. From the late nineteenth century it began to be selectively bred for beef production
